Board approves $668,454 sewer budget amid federal staffing constraints

Board of Sewer Commissioners · Meeting of February 9, 2026

Northfield approves $668,454 sewer budget amid federal staffing constraints. The Board of Sewer Commissioners approved the FY27 budget during a joint meeting with the Finance Committee, with Chair Karen Boudreau leading votes that also separated holiday pay ($6,090) and overtime ($28,000) into distinct line items. Present were members Bernard Boudreau and Barbara Jacque; Mitch Damon and Tammy Pelletier were absent.

The board acknowledged federal and state NPDES permit requirements for two full-time employees, which it cannot currently meet, instead operating with a mix of part-time staff at 80 total funded hours. The board is pursuing a $30,000 USDA Rural grant to study expansion funding options and addressing aging siphon infrastructure requiring redundancy planning.
