Board of Assessors backs Senior Work Off expansion to $1,500 per participant.

NORTHFIELD — Board of Assessors approves Senior Work Off Program expansion request. The board unanimously backed a Council on Aging proposal to raise the per-participant credit from $1,000 to $1,500 against Real Estate taxes, increasing the overlay allocation from $5,000 to $7,500, designed to help seniors ineligible for exemptions and align with nearby towns. Member Bethany Walker will notify the Select Board of the board's support.
In related action, the board processed 29 motor vehicle excise tax abatements totaling $3,932.26 and advanced the Mayflower Valuations revaluation with in-house and fieldwork completed March 10, including initiation of a second homeowners personal property study.
