NORTHFIELD — Conservation Commission scheduled public comment hearing on sewer improvements for October 21. The Northfield Conservation Commission opened a hearing on the Sewer Commission's Notice of Intent for Utility Access Way & Erosion Control Improvements on Sept. 16 and voted to continue the proceeding for public comment on Oct. 21. Eric Lehan of Evenflow Engineering presented plans for the four-area project involving upgrades to existing sewer lines and replacement of a problematic siphon.
Ward Smith, a Wetlands Scientist, noted significant erosion on steep slopes. The project lies within bordering vegetated wetlands near Mill Brook and the Connecticut River but is expected to have no wetland impact. The commission also approved a Certificate of Compliance for FirstLight's Connecticut River restoration project.
