NORTHFIELD — Council on Aging approves budget, launches director recruitment. Northfield's Council on Aging unanimously approved its operating budget, with Treasurer Elizabeth Whitcomb reporting a $6 variance from town records due to delayed revenue recording. Chair Margaret Livingstone outlined a director search process with application review by April 1, finalist interviews open to public attendance, and a recommendation to the Select Board.
The council requested $7,500 for its Senior Tax Work Off program, up from $5,000 last year, to provide up to $1,500 in tax relief to five applicants, and advanced a proposal for a $22,000 annual part-time position at the Senior Center, which serves roughly one-third of the town's population.
