Finance Committee approves library door fund transfer

Select Board · Meeting of February 2, 2026

Northfield Finance Committee approves library repair fund, scrutinizes mounting school budget pressures. The Finance Committee unanimously transferred $11,000 from reserves to replace the 1897 Dickinson Memorial Library's deteriorating rear door. Budget presentations from Pioneer Valley Regional School District and Franklin County Technical School dominated the two-hour meeting.

PVRSD officials sought 10 percent raises for two administrators, the lowest-paid in their roles statewide; Finance Committee members questioned the cost. FCTS faces 16 to 20 percent health insurance increases, the third consecutive jump of that magnitude, and Northfield's FY27 assessment rises to $1,153,893 for 58 students. Both districts cited constraints from state and federal education funding.
