Northfield Historical Commission backs community preservation grant bids, funds cemetery markers. Chair Sandy Campbell and committee members, voting unanimously, authorized letters supporting Community Preservation Committee applications from Dickinson Library for history room climate control and from the town for Revolutionary War grave markers at Center Cemetery. The commission allocated $250 toward the cemetery plaque project for approximately 15 soldiers.
The meeting also featured a final report on the 13-year Battle of the Great Falls/King Phillips War research project, which drew approximately $280,000 in federal grants since 2012 and identified roughly 1,000 period musket balls at the battlefield site.
