Northfield Select Board appointed acting fire officers and approved interim compensation for new fire chief. The board voted 4-1 to name Acting Deputy Chief Robert Hunter and unanimously appointed acting captains and lieutenants for terms ending January 31, 2027. Interim Chief Michael Quinn received $8,600 annual compensation on a 4-0-1 vote, with Duclos abstaining.
The Board also accepted an $84,000 fee agreement with HKT Architects for EMS building feasibility design and approved contract revisions for EMS Chief Matthew Wolkenbreit including adjusted hourly rates. The decisions support continuity as long-serving Fire Chief Floyd "Skip" Dunnell retired after 50 years of service.
