Northfield Planning Board voted unanimously to seek FRCOG grant for floodplain regulations. Chair Margaret Riordan will submit the letter to the Franklin Regional Council of Governments for the Energy and Environmental Affairs grant, which includes bylaw revisions, new FEMA flood maps, and identifying a floodplain administrator, with a 2027 timeline. In related business, the board heard from Christian LaPlante, Downtown District Coordinator for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, on a downtown-revitalization pilot program.
LaPlante presented plans to update Northfield's permitting guide, last updated in 2007, to help business owners navigate licensing and permits. Riordan volunteered as the board's contact.
