Select Board authorizes traffic safety letter to regional agencies

Northfield Select Board authorizes regional traffic safety assistance request. Police Chief Jon Hall prompted the action following resident concerns about speeding and pedestrian safety on Main Street and Millers Falls Road. The board authorized Chair Barbara Jacque to sign a letter requesting the Franklin County Regional Council of Governments and Massachusetts Department of Transportation to update pedestrian crossing signals, improve school zone lighting at Northfield Elementary School, and conduct a traffic data study.

The board also appointed Amanda Zellman as interim Summer Program Director at $23.61 per hour and received notice of a $210,305.67 state grant for unpaved roads equipment.
