Select Board signs warrant with split on school assessment

Northfield Select Board splits on school funding as warrant advances to town vote. The board voted 3-1-1 not to recommend the school district's PVRS assessment in the town meeting warrant, with Chair Barbara Jacque abstaining because she believed voters should decide and board member Sarah Kerns opposing the split, urging trust in school officials. The board unanimously recommended all other warrant articles for the May town meeting vote.
The board also unanimously promoted EMS paramedic Shawn Garland to part-time paramedic status and approved payroll and vendor warrants totaling $1,215,046.49.
